Green energy company goals need to be integrated into the plans which governmental authorities have for the production of energy, both on a commercial scale and for individual properties. The selling of green energy technology into the market is only possible when that market is ready and able to buy what is on offer and as of now there are few opportunities for companies to sell their products or services in the private sector. It is only the subsidy offered by governments trying to reduce the dependence of their nations on fossil fuels which makes green energy possible.
Most of the green energy companies which are now known to the public are involved in the construction of solar energy projects, because this is the one area where renewable energy can be used by the individual householder in an effective way. Solar power is the best known of all the renewable technologies, and it can be used on any scale from an individual house to a huge installation in a desert area which could conceivably provide power for an entire nation. Many of the companies which are involved in the development of solar power are the traditional energy suppliers, but there are also small innovative operators.
Companies which are devoted to developing wind power technology need to be even more in line with what the government in any jurisdiction is trying to do, as there are few prospects for selling the technology to the end user. While it is theoretically possible for an individual householder to use wind power, the practical considerations of construction, safety and noise pollution make it extremely difficult. The establishment of wind farms for the commercial generation of electricity is entirely feasible, and where subsidies are available companies can do well from specializing in this area.
The greatest impact made by a green energy company so far is in the field of individual solar panels. These are not yet able to provide enough power to satisfy the entire needs of a household, but they can certainly play a significant part. During times when the house is not using much electricity, the power which is generated can even be fed back into the grid. This creates at least the possibility of a self-sustaining network of properties using this technology in the future. Companies which are on the cutting edge of these developments are forever improving the efficiency of the photovoltaic panels, which is the most important factor.
There are other projects which can be undertaken by energy companies, in conjunction with governmental agencies. These include large scale geothermal and water based power centres, which can provide enough electricity to power entire communities. Water power is one of the most cost efficient ways of generating renewable energy, and when the conditions are right for the construction of a turbine there is no reason not to make use of what nature is offering. Many water flows are constant all year round, with only minor variations to be overcome.
Many green energy company profiles are actually owned by the same companies which sell traditional fossil fuels. This may seem like something of a contradiction, but many of these companies realise that they are not going to be able to maintain their current level of profitability by concentrating on technologies which are going to be replaced. By embracing new energy sources, these companies are going a long way towards safeguarding their profits into the future. There are, of course, many small independent companies operating in this sector, many of them funded by venture capitalists who see great future potential in a green energy company.
